Greed Now Trumps Dementia Research

Millions of Americans Will Suffer from Donald Trump's Healthcare Cuts

Why would any president kill funding for dementia research, including Alzheimer’s Disease?

Why?

Trump called yesterday “Liberation Day” as he imposed onerous tariffs that will devastate our economy and launch a potentially catastrophic trade war. But, for people suffering from Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, they will hardly be “liberated” from that horrible disease.

And, what’s at stake? A paltry $65 million for dementia research. It’s a pittance compared to what’s needed.

Although courts have ruled that a government-wide funding freeze is illegal, the administration still delays research funding via administrative technicalities.

Plus, they’ve fired NIH scientists and dementia researchers.

Are you kidding me?

Tuesday night during Sen. Cory Booker’s heroic marathon speech calling out Trump’s overall attack on our nation, he said we are in a “moral moment”…that “people are getting hurt.” That people are “afraid.”

What Donald Trump and Elon Musk are doing to America is criminal – all so he can divert our tax dollars to tax breaks for the ultra-wealthy.

Millions of Americans – including many who voted for this creature – will suffer.

No, Wednesday was not Liberation Day. Far from it – especially if you are suffering from Alzheimer’s or if you are their caregiver.

Trump and Musk have no shame. Their only motivation is greed and support of the wealthy class. They couldn’t care less about the average working person — including the millions who stupidly voted for them.

What did Trump say when asked how he felt about his tariffs jacking up the price of new imported cars?

“I couldn’t care less.” Those were his words. He claimed the tariffs would force more auto manufacturing in the U.S. and that there already are plenty of U.S.-built cars for consumers to choose from. Really? Does he understand how the automobile supply chain works?

What Booker did with his marathon speech was a good start. Millions heard him, and I hope they heed his words, his warnings about the fate of our nation if Trump’s greed-based policies are allowed to stand.

The protests that are springing up across the country need to continue and expand. We must speak out whenever there is an opportunity. Silence is complicity.

As Booker said in quoting the late Rep. John Louis, “good trouble” is what’s needed, and that’s the case now more than ever.

In two years we will vote for a new Congress. Until then, we must fight against the tyranny that is Donald J. Trump. We must call out every horrible act that he and his controller, Elon Musk, dream up.

We must do so, relentlessly. That’s why I write. That’s why more than eight years ago I launched my blog site, then called Not Fake News. That’s why at 82-years of age, I still continue calling out Trump. You can listen or not, but I for one will not stay silent.
